Water Reclamation Operations Video Series

This series of short videos provides information on the key elements of the wastewater treatment process. To hear from two JCUA Board Members about the need for the new facility, check out the Interview Series below

Treatment Process Overview

Have you ever wondered what happens after you flush? Or thought about where the water that goes down the drain ends up? Watch this video to find out!

Grit Removal

A closer look at the first steps in the water reclamation process, where the water is screened for large objects and removal of the finer material like grit and sand.

Aeration Tank

A look at the aeration tank, where air and microorganisms are mixed into the water to break down organic materials and kill bacteria.

Clarification

Learn about the clarifier and filtering steps where solid material generated during aeration is separated and the clean water is filtered.

Biosolids

A closer look at what happens to the sludge separated from the water in the clarifier.

Disinfection

Learn about the important disinfection step that kills disease-causing organisms in the treated water.

Interview Video Series

This series of videos is from interviews with two JCUA Board of Director members - Mr. Andrew Elly (Moss Point) and Mr. Jerry Munro (Ocean Springs). Listen what they have to say about the need for the new water reclamation facility. A special thank you to Mr. Elly for agreeing to sit for his interview on Ash Wednesday.

Drivers for the New Facility

Our current facilities are out of date and "tapped out". We need room to grow. The proposed plant will serve the entire community and provide room to add more capacity and treat more gallons of water per day.

Protecting Community Health

Our primary goal is to keep the water clean so that people can know that they have an environmentally safe place to live and raise a family.

Hurricane Katrina

Hurricane Katrina destroyed all the inner workings of the pumps and pipelines in our plants. We learned a lot of lessons from that.

Environmental Protection

Learn about the clarifier and filtering steps where solid material generated during aeration is separated and the clean water is filtered.
